Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom come Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

In the model prayer that Jesus gave us the first request is to ask for God's will to be done upon the earth. The sobering fact is that God's will is not done on the earth. Jesus would not have instructed us to pray for it if it was.

Many people, even Christians, get into error when they make statements like, "God is in control". It sounds right but it leads people to blame God when bad things happen. God is only in control of the people who willingly give him control of their lives. Everyone else is completely unhindered from practicing their free will.

God has much deeper sorrow over the evil that happens in this world than we ever will. Human free will isn't the only source of evil on the earth, there is a second kingdom that was established at the fall of Adam that is responsible for much evil. It's ruler is Satan and he causes all kinds of havoc, killing, stealing and destroying. After he does this, in his craftiness he puts the blame off on God. He isn't called the accuser for nothing.

God's will is that the Kingdom of God come and overtake this kingdom of darkness so that Satan's power is stopped and God's will is done on Earth. Jesus's entire ministry was focused at destroying Satan's kingdom, advancing the Kingdom of God, and spreading the good news of it's comming. Now we are commissioned by Christ to advance this kingdom and spread the good news of it. The church of Jesus Christ is to storm the gates of hell and advance the Kingdom of God bringing about God's goodness, His Glory, and His will in the earth.

This task is not an easy one but we can all do something easy to contribute to the cause. We can pray "Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." As we pray, God will inspire us as to what his will is for us. As we obey God, Satan's kingdom will fall.
