Parable of the Hidden Treasure

The Parable of the Hidden Treasure is a triumphant story of a man who understood the great value God's Kingdom would have in his life and joyfully traded everything He had to get it.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Do we see the great value and worth of the Kingdom of Heaven that we would joyfully give up everything we have to get it. The Kingdom of Heaven is eternal life, but it is more than that. It is God's rule in the earth that overcomes the Kingdom of Satan. In Jesus's ministry the advancement of the Kingdom of Heaven set people free from demonic oppression and possession. It restored health to those that were sick and gave back the dead to those who had lost loved ones. It gave forgiveness to the worst of sinners, freeing them from their guilt and enabling them to serve God with the rest of their lives. It fed multitudes and publicly put to shame the ruling classes that were oppressing the people. The Kingdom of Heaven was at hand and what a wonderful and marvelous thing it was.

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand today! Jesus trained and instructed his disciples to keep advancing the Kingdom of Heaven, preaching it's good news and and releasing it's power upon the earth. As His disciples today we are to advance the Kingdom of God over the kingdom of darkness the same way that Jesus and his early disciples did.

Let us join with the man in the parable of the hidden treasure and joyfully do whatever it takes to gain the Kingdom of Heaven in our own lives and spread the good news of it to others.
