Inspirational Bible VersesInspirational Bible verses get us through difficult times, and push us on to do the tasks God has laid before us. Any verse in the Bible can be inspirational, through the wisdom of the Holy Spirit pointing it out to us at just the right time. Jesus said, But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you. -John 14:26 The most inspirational Bible verses are the ones the Holy Spirit brings to our remembrance at certain times for specific reasons. It doesn't get more inspired than a personalized word from God. Our job is to learn the words of God so the Holy Spirit has the tools he needs to get this inspiration over to us. He can't remind us if we don't know it in the first place. There are many popular verses that Christians look to for inspiration. These verses are so popular that catch phrases have been made up to remind us of them at special times. One example of this is, "If you're in a fix, Philippians 4:6". Some verses have nicknames such as 1 Corinthians 13 being called, "The Love Chapter". Other knicknames of popular verses is the Romans Road, the Sermon on the Mount, the Lords Prayer, and the Great Commission. Many inspirational Bible verses have become so popular that as soon as the chapter and verse is mentioned many people automatically know what it says. Some of these are John 3:16, 1 John 1:9, and Psalms 23. Most often inspirational songs are based on these popular verses. The hymn, Leave it There, is based on 1 Peter 5:7, His Eye is on the Sparrow is based on Luke 12:6-7, the praise song Never Let Go is based on Psalms 23 and Isaiah 41:10. Inspirational Bible verses can be seen almost anywhere. Many times they are used in art work, either embedded in the corner of a beautifully framed painting or creatively put together with different fonts and sizing on a poster. In the Old Testament, God's people were instructed to put God's Word in their homes for the purpose of teaching their children. (Deuteronomy 6:9) Not a bad idea for us living in under the New Covenant either. :) Many times the Golden Rule can be found in Sunday School classrooms. Football players may write Philippians 4:13 on their helmets, or someone in the crowd at a sporting event may be holding up a sign with John 3:3 written on it. Sometimes the scripture that inspires us doesn't come from a specific verse, but is actually a Bible story. the story of David and Goliath in First Samuel 17 is one of the most popular inspirational bible stories. Other stories such as Joshua and the Wall of Jericho, Daniel in the Lions Den, Ruth, Ester, the Stoning of Stephen, etc. inspire courage, faithfulness, faith, and love just to name a few. Some believe that Jesus may have told the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man to Zacheaus the tax collector and that is what inspired him to turn his life around and start living for the Lord. Jesus knew how to inspire through stories, he did it often through his bible parables. The Apostle John actually recorded his Gospel for the sole purpose of inspiring people to faith and belief in Jesus Christ. (John 20:30,31) Inspirational Bible verses encourage us to fight the good fight of faith and push on no matter what obstacles may stand in our way. They give us confidence to wait on God and wisdom to make right decisions. God is good and he has given us enough encouragement, wisdom, promises, and examples in His Word to help us overcome anything Satan, this World, or our sinful nature may throw at us.
